Every now and again I come across an outlet that is blazing a trail in terms of product or value, and Feet International would seem to be doing so on both accounts. It sells granite and marble worktops, granite sinks, tiles, cladding, showers and bathroom ware – but the prices have to be seen to be believed.

The secret lies in the fact that it buys in bulk from China, where the marble is virtually indistinguishable from that of Italy. It charges about £100 for a piece 615mm wide x 2.75 metres long.
